"Galaxy and Mass assembly Survey"
Abstract. I will give an overview of the GAMA survey, and an updatefollowing the completion of the AAT observations from 2008-2010.GAMA has now obtained new spectra for 120000 unique galaxies over150 square degrees, distributed in three 50 sq. deg. equatorialfields, with a survey completeness of 99% and a redshift completenessof 94%. We will be making our first public data release to coincidewith the upcoming AAO Symposium, on the 25th June 2010.Initial scientific results from the survey have already startedto flow, with intriguing results on the properties of galaxyobscuration, stellar initial mass function variations andthe nature of the faintest star forming galaxies, among others.A selection of these results will be outlined, highlighting thework of AAO staff and students involved in the GAMA project.
